Monthly Special

On March 15 of last year, we launched our site to showcase the very best of Dallas' entertaining sources and to remind you, our readers, of themes and ideas to keep you in
the spirit of entertaining. We want to thank you for reading our monthly newsletter and being part of our first year on the web. It is our intention to acknowledge the real talent behind the sources and scenes, those who make the events shine – the invitation designers, the chefs, the caterers, the floral designers, the event impresarios as well as the musicians, lighting experts, the staffers and parkers. And, where would we be without the spectacular tableware and fabulous produce? We should also mention our encouragement of Destination Celebrations. With a year behind us, we look forward to on-going topics and new source entries on the entertaining scene. EntertaininginDallas.com is, after all, the ultimate site for Dallas’ top sources and a site that you should bookmark for on-going, informed reference.

Bon Anniversaire ! !
For our birthday, we decided to look back at our inauguration, and encourage you to read our first email, Entertaining: Finding the Inspiration. We want to share it with our new friends, who may have joined us along the way this year. Fortunately, our first email is still very relevant to our site objectives.
We also have some wishes for next year before celebrating with our whimsical cake and superlative champagne. We know that we are not alone in coveting presents for special occasions. Now, as gifts to us, we want you to contact us with your comments and suggestions and to forward our site to your friends who enjoy entertaining or thoughts of entertaining.
What's New
- St. Patrick's' Day. There is still time to enjoy the March 17 observation of the parade and party day. Our last newsletter, March Madness – Hoops and Shamrocks, is still current with its suggestions for St. Patrick's' Day entertaining.
- Savor Dallas. The seventh annual and increasingly popular Savor Dallas showcases the best of Dallas 'chefs and restaurants, accompanied by premium wines, on the March 18 and 19 weekend Check out their website, Savor Dallas, to sign up for the events that will fit your schedule and interests.
Art in Bloom. Monday, March 28 is this year's date for the annual Dallas Museum of Art League's symposium and luncheon featuring a celebrated floral designer. This year's "artful arranger" is award-winning Jane Godshalk, whose work is often featured in books and magazines. She is also on the faculty of Longwood Gardens in their Floral Design program. Previous Art in Bloom symposiums have featured internationally recognized floral designers such as Dallas' own Howard Eckhart (Magic Moments Parties & Events) and Mami Ogata (Botanical Art), as well as Judith Blacklock, Bunny Williams, Christian Tortu, Rene Van Rehms, and Jeffrey Leatham. Check with the Dallas Museum of Art for reservation information.
Côtes de Coeur. Sponsored by the American Heart Association's Dallas chapter, the Côtes de Coeur, to be held this year on Saturday, April 9 at the Hilton Anatole, is the number one fund-raising gala in the nation for the AHA. Dallas' top toque Richard Chamberlain (Chamberlain's Steak and Chop House and Fish Market Grill) leads 16 of his peer chefs in the creation of a menu and wine pairing from select wineries from America and abroad. The gala features a live auction of one-of-a-kind experiences and a silent auction of more than 2,000 wines. The silent auction provides attendees the opportunity to buy some of the finest wines in the world. Contact Dallaswineauction.com for additional information and reservations.
Macaron Day NYC will be held on Sunday, March 20, sadly only in New York City. Surely you will not want to miss, should you be there for a visit. Originated five years ago in Paris by renowned pastry chef Pierre Hermé (creator of the French macaron), le Jour du Macaron enlisted pastry shops to give away free macarons. In exchange, customers would be encouraged to make a charitable donation. In New York, a portion of sales (in addition to your freebie) goes to City Harvest. Perhaps we could have such a day in Dallas! We are big fans of the delicate meringue-based confections that come in a rainbow of colors and fillings, not to be confused with our coconut variety of macaroons.
